Speech-Language Pathologists

Dietrich Speech & Language Services, LLC is pleased to provide each patient with a highly-skilled speech-language pathologist (SLP) who is experienced with a broad range of speech, language, and feeding disorders. Prior to becoming part of our team at Dietrich Speech & Language Services, each SLP received extensive training and education both in the graduate school classroom and in the real world. In addition to possessing strong academic and practical clinical skills, our SLPs are gifted with enthusiastic, compassionate personalities who truly love what they do.

Each SLP holds a state license to practice speech-language pathology in South Carolina and is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the professional, scientific, and credentialing organization for SLPs, audiologists, and related scientists in the United States and internationally. Being "certified" means holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), a nationally recognized professional credential that represents a level of excellence in the field of Audiology (CCC-A) or Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). SLPs who have achieved the CCC (ASHA certification) have voluntarily met rigorous academic and professional standards, typically going beyond the minimum requirements for state licensure.

Our SLPs also actively engage in ongoing professional development to keep their certification and education current.

Kristen Lankford Dietrich, MS, CCC-SLP

Kristen grew up with her parents and younger brother in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Elon University in Elon, NC, Kristen moved to Charleston, South Carolina to pursue her dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist. In 2009, her dream was realized as she graduated from the Medical University of SC (MUSC) with a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Following graduation from MUSC in 2009, Kristen worked in the Lowcountry for a couple of years with a talented team of occupational, physical and speech therapists in a pediatric clinic and in the home health setting.

Although they missed (and still do miss) their families who live out-of-state, Kristen and her husband Andrew both fell in love with Charleston and the people who live here. Andrew enjoys an exciting and challenging career as a private chef while Kristen loves working with children and their families throughout the Lowcountry.

Knowing they would be happy establishing deeper roots in the area, Kristen opened Dietrich Speech & Language Services, LLC in August 2011. Kristen and Andrew welcomed a daughter to their family in the summer of 2016 and are expecting a second child in the fall of 2020!
